The Invitation ~ new, each Dark Moon….

Last month, I asked you to take a look at how balanced and connected you were with your Heart and your Mind, as Venus and Mercury were major players in the energy. This Dark Moon, we are at the beginning of Pluto’s Retrograde that will last until October… yes, that long. Pluto, or shall we call Him by his Greek title – Hades – does nothing quickly. Or lightly.

Hades is the God of the Underworld, and this energy lends itself to all things unconscious. The deep sea where so much of what we do is influenced and waiting for enlightenment. This is the Shadow side of Self, as well as the Shadow side of the world – and in the retrograde, we will be forced to face both.

How long have you held the knowing that there were things that really needed to change, but you just couldn’t face them to do it? We all have parts of our Selves, and of our lives, that are like this. There are too many reasons to count on the why of it; just know that in the next 5-6 months, those parts will become too painful; too squeaky (as in the wheel); too apparent and visible to ignore any longer.

The wonderful news is that this is an opportunity. Yes, probably not an altogether pleasant experience, but an opportunity, nonetheless. What Hades brings is the unfolding of when things must die, so that new things can live. Space must be made for transformation; it cannot happen otherwise. Life requires death. This is a truth that we often want to refuse. Tonight, I invite you to turn towards it.

What Death is required in your life? What Shadow pieces of your Self and you Life need to be faced, changed, and transformed? What space needs to be created? Perhaps what has already died, and is just waiting for your pruning shears? What does Hades have to show you? Perhaps tonight, you will journey to meet and ask Him.

Honour Your Own Traditions…

Take these questions/invitations and use them in your own tradition this evening during the Dark Moon. Use art making, journaling, spirit journey, mediation, scrying, tarot, or whatever other way you would like to use in reflection. Create a sacred space where you can safely be quiet, internal, and soft. Ask these questions to your Soul; ask them to your Guides and your Gods. Listen for the answers and any wisdom they may have to assist you in the present happenings of your life.

No matter which contemplative tradition you use, I encourage you to write about the experience (and/or make art) afterwards, so to create a lasting record within the physical realm. So much can be lost so quickly when we do not marry the two together.

You are also invited to share any part of your experience that you wish on the closed Facebook group – thoughts, narratives, photos of art, etc. Please keep to the group norms on respectful and mindful comments on others’ posts. Posting is completely voluntary; please do not feel any pressure.
