Moon Temple
With Repetition, we carve the Path smooth and our Souls know the way intuitively….
The Moon Temple is open once again. Welcome back to the Souls that gathered with us last month, and to the new Souls that join us this Dark of the Moon. All are Safe and Welcome within this Sacred Temple.
The Dark Moon Liminal Space ~ every month, we enter here….
As the light fades away this evening and the liminal space of the dusk (between day and night) comes round, let your mind rest on the liminal spaces within your journey. Those moments in time where we are between – between this moment and that; between this relationship and that; between being single and married; or married and single; between being childless and a parent; between life and death; between leaving one job and starting another; between not knowing and knowing…
The liminal spaces arise in so many parts of life; they are the gateways that stand between before and after. And in most cases, there is no going back once we’ve crossed that threshold.
The concept of the Dark of the Moon is like that – for a moment, there is a pause between the waning of the old moon and the beginning of the new moon’s light – a dark moon. So in this liminal pause, allow yourself some time to consider how the gateways show up in your life…
The Invitation ~ new, each Dark Moon….
The calendar has flipped, the great Wheel has turned, and we find ourselves on the other side of the New Year. A time of new beginnings – and as we stand in the liminal pause before the New Moon, it is an auspicious time to set intentions.
Some find aligning with this time of year difficult, as the world outside has not ‘stopped’ – we are still in the worst part of a world pandemic, restrictions and safety are impacting our daily lives, and there is incredible civil and political conflict that we see every day. The difficulties of yesterday did not just end because the dawn came.
All true.
And. Aligning with the seasonal shifts is not about bypassing the pain and difficulties of our daily realities. It is not about only releasing, releasing, releasing what no longer serves us. No. With one hand we release & prune, and with the other… we plant. We seed. We grow. And to do that, we must believe.
Truly aligning with the shifts of the seasons and the turning of the Great Wheel allows us to root down into the wisdom and the knowing of the Earth. These cycles assist us in having faith that the current moment – whether it is wonderous or filled with pain – will indeed shift, and move, and change. And come again. Rooting down into the intelligence of the Conscious, Living Earth supports us in being able to be fully present in the moment – because we know it is fleeting, and yet, eternal.
The paradox of this space is perfect for the liminal reflection. How do you set intentions for your life, while also knowing you may not live past today? How do you endure this current painful, difficult, and uncertain world experience, while also laughing out loud and loving with your whole heart? How do we carry the enormity that is life, while also knowing how exceedingly small we are in the grand, unfathomable Universe?
Take these wonderings into your practice and into your reflections this Dark Moon. How do we set good boundaries, and yet stay open to our lessons and opportunities for service? What supports you in being able to sit with the difficulty of today, while believing in the future?
Where does your hope blossom from?
Honour Your Own Traditions…
Take these questions/invitations and use them in your own tradition this evening during the Dark Moon. Use art making, journaling, spirit journey, mediation, scrying, tarot, or whatever other way you would like to use in reflection. Create a sacred space where you can safely be quiet, internal, and soft. Ask these questions to your Soul; ask them to your Guides and your Gods. Listen for the answers and any wisdom they may have to assist you in the present happenings of your life.
No matter which contemplative tradition you use, I encourage you to write about the experience (or make art!) afterwards, so to create a lasting record within the physical realm. So much can be lost so quickly when we do not marry the two together.
You are also invited to share any part of your experience that you wish on the closed Facebook group – thoughts, narratives, photos of art, etc. Please keep to the group norms on respectful and mindful comments on others’ posts. Posting is completely voluntary; please do not feel any pressure.
I honour each of you in knowing your Wise Self and I am grateful to sit in virtual Circle with each of you. Each month there will be a new Invitation to take into your personal practice… a way to keep to and honour the natural rhythms of our world, and our lives, that are so often forgotten.
May your journeys be enriching and exactly what you need in this time.
